When was the last time you genuinely sat down and wrote a letter? I think I was at University when I did. I don't mean typed a letter to some official thing, or wrote an email. I mean sat down and with a pen actually wrote a letter?
My hubby used to write me great letters when we were "courting" (don't you just love that word - makes me think of knights and princesses). I still have them somewhere and when I come across them it makes me giggle.
It got me thinking. Heather over at Notes from Lapland started a really cool thing called the "secret post club" based on the fact that we all love to get a parcel. Now I didn't participate in this. Not because I don't love getting parcels (I really really love to get parcels!) but because I am useless at getting round to doing things and I would let people down by not sending things in time. It appears Heather has had a bit of a nightmare with the whole thing with lots of parcels going missing (see here) . But essentially it has also been very successful with lots of excitement.
I have also read quite a few posts of people who, like me, are not great at getting out there and mixing with people. It means they end up with very few close friends and the distances involved with online friends make it very difficult to be there for each other. Sometimes you just need someone to talk to in a non-public forum don't you?
So here is an idea. Why don't we write each other letters. You know, the really old fashioned way with pen to paper (you know, so you can barely read it!). We could set up a Penpal club. We could match people with similar interests where distance prohibits physically meeting up and write to each other.
If it really worked, we could eventually move those letters to emails if both parties agreed.
So what do you reckon? Leave me a comment and tell me what you think or just click on the picture and fill in the form!
