Today I am on cloud 9 because today I have done some serious mother/daughter hanging out with my little girl. It started off with the little one running out of her bedroom to find me this morning. It was so cute. I was out of the room just as she was heading down the 3 steps to our bedroom with a big smile on her face. So I took her back to her room to get dressed as usual and we had breakfast number 1. We have cleaners come every 2 weeks (life is too short for housework) and because I was off work I decided to leave the hubby behind and head off to the park with the little one. It was frosty outside but a sunny day. The playground at the park was empty - all ours!
The little one spent a lot of time on slides and we even went on one together (logistically impossible to take a picture of that one from my Blackberry!)
Then, after an hour of playing, and when the little one had a wet bum from sweeping the ice off the slides, we headed to McDonalds for breakfast.
And the little one scoffed an entire Sausage and Egg McMuffin while I had a latte. The nice lady gave her a balloon (which travelled home in the boot of the car) and we arrived home just as the cleaners were leaving. I enjoyed hanging out with my little girl so much. We had great fun and I got such a sense of completeness doing it. I can't imagine anything better and look forward to more of these times as she gets older. I hope her "I hate my mum" phase doesn't last too long when she's a teenager!
Meanwhile, on the bedtime front, she loves the new bed and slept in it all night. However, despite missing an afternoon nap and being knackered, she made about 5 attempted escapes from the room. Eventually I held the handle **hangs head in shame** and the first time she waited and then tried it while I moved away! The second time I held it, waited and held it again for the second attempt. She then had a quick annoyed cry and then climbed in bed and zonked out. At 1am I heard her whimpering and concerned that she had fallen out of bed went to have a quick check. She was snuggled up in bed happily and pointed out to me lots of times that she had Makka Pakka on her pillowcase. I sat next to her, stroked her hair and kissed her forehead, told her to go back to sleep and she did. There was banging on and off through the night. I have no doubt that she had been out of bed a few times, but she had climbed back into the new bed. So when do I take the old one away eh?
