It's been a long week. I had a meeting near Stanstead. It was a one day team meeting and due to the Volcanic ash causing flight disruption I had decided to drive there and back. From Dundee this is 8 hours. I like driving but it's still a long way. I did everything I could to minimise time away from the little one and try and reduce the burden on the hubby. So I left on Wednesday morning after getting the little one up and getting her brekkie and came home as early as possible on Friday so I would be back for bedtime.
It sounds like she was as good as gold for the hubby. She even "slept late" on Friday, not getting up until 6:20am, a whole 20 minutes later than usual. My bedtime worries also proved unfounded. As usual we stayed in touch via phone and webcam. She is better on the phone now and had learnt to say "I love you" which totally melted my heart. We managed to have enough webcam time that she got bored and carried on playing and the only "want my mummy" moment was early Friday morning when I was in the car and we couldn't bring up the camera. So I am a little more comfortable now with taking a few days away in Anglesey in a few days.
The meeting was as miserable as expected. There is a lot of conflict in our team at the moment and one of my colleagues stood up and did a presentation that undermined and ridiculed all the work I do. He did not intend it as a personal attack but that's how it came out and it caused much confusion that I had to work to fix over lunch. Luckily I had a presentation slot after lunch and was able to mostly fix things. No one can out-present me! But I am in such a bad place with my work right now, there is no fun and even though I work from home I dread going to work each day. I tried to meet a friend from Twitter but my meeting got in the way. I found out there were tennis courts at the hotel too - would have been great to get in a game of tennis!
This weekend has been spent trying to catch up on sleep for me and trying to give breathing space to the hubby. Not easy when you have an energiser bunny toddler. I missed her loads though and it was lovely to be home.
Next time I need to schedule an extra day because so many friends on Twitter invited me round for a coffee! I would love to take them up on it.
