I was thinking the other day, as I hoovered up crisps off the floor again, there are some things you just can't do without when you have a toddler. I thought I would share my list with you.
- A handheld hoover. Mine is a Dyson. Crisps, biscuits, toast. No matter how often you hoover and how helpful your cat is, you still have path's of crumbs everywhere. I could not live without it.
- A camera phone which videos. So many moments, if I didn't have my Blackberry I would miss so many.
- A relaxed attitude to decoration. They will have crayons. They will find a way of getting at the crayons in an "uncontrolled" environment. They will draw on everything. If this causes you stress you will have a problem. Toothpaste is pretty effective at cleaning it up by the way!
- An infinite packet of wet wipes or kitchen roll. Everything gets spilled. Everywhere.
- Access to CBeebies. Your days are relentless. Even if you play drawing, singing, dancing, cleaning, cooking, sleeping, you still have hours to fill. Cbeebies helps give you a second to breath and re-group!
- The following super powers : Teleportation - for the moments they are just about to fall or do something dangerous. Superspeed-to run after them. Multiple limbs - so many things where you don't have enough hands. I would say super-hearing but it's when they go quiet you have to worry!
- 1 hour to spare before you go anywhere. Gone are the days you can just walk out of the house
- Bad sense of smell. Nappies, sickness, need I say more?
- The ability to function on only a few hours sleep. You can't lie-in any more. You can't stay up late. You can't spend a day in bed feeling ill. You have to keep going no matter what because your energizer bunny toddler never stops.
- A coffee maker. Sometimes the only way to get through the day is lot's of coffee.
This is just my starting list of 10. What's on yours?
