With the little one having such a problem with car sickness, we don't go out as a family very often. When we do we try and limit the distance in the hope we won't trigger a sick event.
However today we decided it was time to go out together. We had done everything we could (No Dairylea dunker or dairy products, not teething, half a travel sickness sweet) and so got in the car (I have mad the seat as high as I can) and headed off to Monikie Park (or Monkey park as we've always called it).
This park is about 20 miles away so we were being brave! It has ducks, and a nice little playground with swings that she loves. Apart from feeling tired she was fine all the way there (yippeeeeee).
The ducks totally flocked to us, obviously thinking we had food. We didn't because it was just not the front of our minds when we set off. The little one wanted to go splishy in the big puddle as usual - she really is hard work near water. We had a go on the swings and she loved it so much we had to go back a second time.
The only problem is, I have mentioned before that we live in the wrong country. The little one hates rain, the cold and wind. Since she was a baby she has grunted unhappily whenever it's windy! This face says it all don't you think?
Note that Starbucks Bear (all the way from San Francisco) had to come on our trip today!
Anyway, with a promise of Ice Cream we managed to leave the park and head to a nearby pub with a soft play area. This is the first time we have eaten out as a family properly.
She was really well behaved. We ordered her a burger which the kitchen had cremated (and the mash we had was instant) so the food wasn't great but it was good enough for her. She then went into the soft play area which was empty, well lit, and even had a toddler section seperately.
After about 10 minutes she ran into the main area which has 5 different levels! The hubby, who is terrified of heights, went into a panic as she clambered her way to the top so I had to mount a rescue and bring her back down. Of course then she kept on trying to get back there! Eventually it started filling up as there was clearly a birthday party happening so we legged it. Because we still hadn't had ice cream we promised her one from McDonalds and stopped on the way to pick one up from the drive-thru.
Once more we made it back with no sickness (double-phew) and a relatively happy but tired little girl. The hubby headed off for a nap and I tried to get her to nap on me but she was having none of it.
All in all though a fab day.
Oh, and we took her out without a nappy and had no accidents. She went to the toilets in the pub and loved the experience so much she kept asking to go back.
