Today my friend came over and babysat the little one while the hubby and I went to find a new car to replace his very impractical Volvo C70.
His car is 4 years old and has 3600 miles on the clock. Yep, that is correct, it’s not a typo.
Whilst it is a 4 seater it is really not practical as a family car.
Whilst a hard top convertible is great fun, there are few opportunities with the Scottish weather to use it.
And if we get 21 miles per gallon we’re doing well.
So it was time to bite the bullet and get something more practical. However, it is replacing a car that the hubby loves so it’s important that it meets his needs as well as those of the family. As a result it needed to have lots of gadgets as well as space and be nice to drive.
The Ford Grand C-Max is a new car from Ford. It is configurable to 7 seats and sliding rear doors. It has every gadget you can think of in the Titanium pack. It also has the option of a large sunroof and is the sort of size and space you get in a 4 by 4 without actually being one.
I did a test drive and found the 1.6 engine in the model they had very under-powered, however there is another petrol engine which is a 1.6 and has 150bhp which is 10 more than the 2.0 litre diesel.
So we came home and thought about it (very unusual of us to be so reasoned!) and decided it ticked all the boxes. So tomorrow I will call the garage and get one ordered.
The beauty of it is that I will be able to use it for my business trips too. We’ll actually have 2 interchangeable cars and this one is half the price of my XC60.
Anyway, exciting isn’t it?
