Today the little one went to the birthday party of her best friend at school.
This was the first chance to implement my new strategy of making the cakes for her friends parties so that I can make gluten free and the little one doesn’t feel left out. This little boy was into the Octonauts. His mother had already bought the print for the top
So I just made and decorated the cake with icing and made some little Octonauts characters to go with it
I also made some cupcakes with an Octonauts thing on them
The cake was a rainbow banana victoria sponge! I tend to find it makes sense to add bananas or apples to gluten free cakes to make sure they stay moist because they tend to be very dense
It was very well received. The only problem was that all the kids almost came to blows as they fought over the Octonauts characters I had made out of fondant icing. In the end they had to be put safely out of the way on the windowsill!
But the candle blowing and singing went fine
Now here’s a party activity you don’t normally see
And then there was the game of “how many kids can you fit on a trampoline?” (and there wasn’t a single tear either!)
And then balloons and a multicoloured thingy
And some musical statues and musical bumps
And for 2 hours there was lots of fun, lovely food and no-one fought or fell out with each other. Now that is a standard for a party that will be hard to beat!
