As part of my commitment to making the cakes for any party the little one is invited to (to ensure they are gluten free and she’s not left out), I agreed to make a Spongebob Squarepants cake for a party she’s going to on Sunday. Now, of all the cakes I’ve made, this was the easiest – basically because he’s square!
Unfortunately gluten free stuff doesn’t tend to rise…so I had to make 4 layers of victoria sponge (with banana in for keeping it moist). I also added food colouring to each layer to make it more interesting. So here are the steps
The cake went down really well. It fed 25 kids and their parents. Everyone said how tasty the cake was which is great. It means it didn’t just look good but it tasted good too. In fact I think of everyone the little one loved it most!
Here is how it looked once all cut up so you can see inside – I thought it looked great
