Have you ever thought about how you run when you run downhill?
You lean back a bit, shorten your stride, look up, let your legs do the work and strike the ground toe first.
It's easy running downhill isn't? You don't need to use your whole body, you just let your legs do the work.
Sound familiar?
This, in my opinion, is really similar to the approach you should take to the barefoot running style. This is why running this way is so much easier than other styles and probably why I enjoy it so much - it's like running downhill all the time!
The other morning I ran 5k before work. Because I could. I did a hill run another day and wasn't even out of breath when I got home. Yesterday we went to a restaurant for dinner after a trip to the dentist. I had parked the car in the shopping centre that was going to shut before we finished so after the main course I ran to the car, moved it and ran back. I was wearing my Converse so ran barefoot style. When I returned to the restaurant I wasn't out of breath and I hadn't even broken a sweat.
There is something to this barefoot running thing!
