As I prepared to step out of the door I heard a rustling in a bag that was in the hallway ready to go to charity.
“Oh no” I thought “what has Spud the cat brought in this time”
Tentatively I moved stuff around. I saw a hole in the bottom of the bag that had clearly been chewed.
No sign of the creature though.
I went back to my office.
A rustling again.
I returned to the bag and saw this
Luckily moles don’t move very fast so I went to the kitchen to get a container and after a little manoeuvring managed to get it.
The mole was not happy. But I can see why they made stuff out of mole fur – it was so soft.
I took it out to the trees behind the house and released it. I watched it burrow in the ground.
Sadly the little one was having a rare nap so missed it.
Until…
…an hour later the cat reappeared with the mole in its mouth!
Luckily this time the little one was up so she got to say hello
So this time we got in the car and drove it to a nearby woodland to release it.
Hope it’s happy now.
