Ok well a squirrel isn't the main point of this post but it seemed a shame not to share.
The little one asked me the other day what a squirrel sounds like. I thought they were silent but now I’ve hear them in real life. It’s hard to describe but a bit like the ook a monkey makes
So snow very much got in my way again.
On Friday I was due to fly to London for a 3 day Cognitive Hypnotherapy course.
It was snowing a lot.
And thanks to suggestion from my hubby I looked at a flight on Saturday morning, discovered one at 8:20am and rang up and changed to that one. I also let the hotel know I still wanted my hotel room but one less night.
All good.
The flight I was supposed to be on never took off and so it was the right call.
I cleared the drive of a couple of inches of snow 3 times. The last time was at 4pm
I got up at 5am the next day and cleared off a couple more inches before heading to the airport with hubby and little one in tow so I could leave them with the car and take a taxi back.
I got to the airport in plenty of time. It was a beautiful morning. It wasn’t snowing and had stopped in the early hours of the night before.
All looked good.
There was a de-icer lorry going up and down the runway in Dundee and plenty of passengers as the flight now included the ones from the night before.
Then we got notified of a delay till after 9. No problems. There were free biscuits provided and the coffee machine was on free vend. Dunkirk spirit kicked in and everyone was jolly.
Then the runway was shut until after 10. People started muttering and talking about cancelling.
We were amused that the staff at the airport had 2 ways of testing the safety of the runway:
1. The men checked how far they could slide
2. The de-icer lorry driver bent over and stuck his finger in the puddle.
Technology!
Anyway, then we were told it was shut until 11. And I remembered that London City airport shuts at 1pm on a Saturday due to licensing regulations as it’s in a residential area. The flight down is 1.5 hours.
The Dunkirk spirit was slipping and some people left, others got agitated.
I checked for trains because this course was only once a year and if I missed this one it would be a long wait until the next.
The hubby talked me round saying that if the plane didn’t leave I should just call it quits.
So I waited.
Meanwhile suddenly a crew arrived and got on the plane.
We eventually left just after 11. I had totally convinced myself it wasn’t going to happen. I had planned to cancel holidays and focus on work instead so now I had to get my head back in the game!
This is the view I had of pretty much the whole of the UK on the way down apart from London which was totally clear of snow.
Anyway I got to the course at 1:30 so only missed half a day and was able to catch up with what I missed over the afternoon break.
As ever, the course was brilliant and I now have a couple more things in my toolkit to allow me to help my clients even more effectively.
