I got an email over Xmas telling me about a little fitness app called ObstaclesXRT. Unfortunately I didn’t respond quickly enough to get a free promo code but I was interested enough to go an buy it myself.
I struggle with DVD’s because the little one likes to help and I have to do it in a certain place. I have the Davina DVD but never use it.
This app is designed for the iPhone but works fine on the iPad.
What I love about it is that it is designed for use in a small space like a living room. It also works on imagination so you imagine stepping in tyres or jumping tree trunks.
Routines are in short bursts of 30 seconds with 30 second rest activity (on Beginner)
Here is the little intro video so you can see how it works http://vimeo.com/56349205
The first time I did it I chose beginner which was a 20 minute routine. I was surprised at how easy it was. What was even more amusing was that the little one joined in with all the activities. She did the whole routine with me!
I enjoyed it a lot but was concerned that it wasn’t enough of a workout. That concern went away when the next day I could feel new muscles aching.
It’s very easy to take 20 minutes in my day to do this and because it’s on the iPad I can do it anywhere…even in a hotel room when I am away!
I have done it almost every day since I got it and each time the little one has done it with me. It’s nice to have exercise I can do so easily and that I don’t struggle to find the time to do.
I think it’s about £2.99 now from the app store. This would normally be a price that I would think twice about paying for an app but I don’t regret this one at all.
