We first have to sort out our relationship with ourselves (sounds a bit hoity toity but it’s true)
Often the way we see ourselves, no matter what size or shape we are, is formed by how much we care about the opinions of others (past or present). It is possible to lose weight and still feel fat. In fact one of the reasons people develop anorexia is they just can’t see themselves the way others do and believe they are fatter than they are.
One of the goals of coaching is to get you to accept your body whatever size it is and if you choose to be a size 8-10 that’s great and we’ll work to that, but it’s also great if you choose to be happy at a size 16. If we focus on the wrong goals you might never feel you are where you want to be.
I set up my 3 month weight loss coaching programme because I wanted to use my Cognitive Hypnotherapy skills to help people that might have an emotional connection with food still get the benefits of a retuning Cognitive Hypnotherapy download. A download that they can listen to every day and it helps change their relationship with food. I also wanted to be able to help people who are not geographically near me. This whole programme is done online.
So how does Weight Loss Coaching work?
Step 1: We start off by having a conversation. I need to see you for that conversation because that helps me understand the impact of what I am saying and asking more clearly. This conversation can be on Skype, Facetime or Face to Face. By having this first conversation I can help you get to a clear understanding of why you want to lose weight and how we’ll know when we have achieved what we want. This is beyond the obvious stuff and really the critical part of the process.
Step 2: We will then set clear goals for “how will we know when we are there” broken down into weekly goals so you only ever need to focus on one or two things each week.
Step 3: I then write a custom MP3 download for you that is tailored to you and will gradually retune your mind to give you a normal healthy relationship with food. This works in the same way that Thinking Slimmer worked so well for me and is tweaked to help address your specific needs.
Step 4: Then I’m there. Day in day out, holding your hand, nudging and supporting as things change and you want to ask questions. I am also a person you can be accountable to. Someone who cares that you get to where you’re going.
Step 5: We touch base weekly officially to make sure things are on track and revise your goals if necessary. Because I’m a therapist if anything crops up on your journey that becomes a limiter then I can help clear it out of the way.
Weight loss is unlikely to be those big boasts of “4 stone in 2 weeks” but it will be steady and permanent. And at the same time we will be working on getting you to feel better about you to the point where food becomes nothing more than something that you do occasionally to keep yourself alive. It has no bigger meaning in your life.
This is not necessarily going to be easy. Anyone who signs up will have to commit to listening to the download every day without fail and complete the tasks I set.
But the end result should make that more than worth the effort.
