I updated you a while back how we were nearly there with the potty and all we needed to do was have dry nights and move her on to the toilet.
Well for the last 2 weeks, despite putting a nappy on her overnight, she has been dry! Generally the downside of this is that she has been waking up at 2:30-3:30am to for a wee on the potty. She’s still too little and young to do this unsupervised, but if all goes well you can vaguely stay asleep for the process! This week, however, we’ve had 2 nights where she’s slept through until 5:45am and still been dry so there is light at the end of the tunnel!
I have put motion sensitive LED lights along the hallway so we don’t need torches any more.
Having first moved her potty into the toilet, we have now progressed to using a seat on the toilet.
I went to B&Q to get one of the toilet seats with the integrated child seat (Thanks @theboyandme)
This is brilliant. Unfortunately while I was out she got to the toilet quicker than the hubby and it didn’t have her seat on it so she sat on it anyway and sort of fell in. So she won’t use it! She likes the handles on her original one!
However it is a good contingency and she will use it one day.
Meanwhile we were faced with a new challenge, she can’t reach the light switch. The toilet is downstairs in a cupboard-like room with no windows and a traditional switch rather than a pull chord. I could get LED lights but they aren’t really bright enough and if I got the push-on ones she’d leave them on and the sensor ones go off too quickly.
The solution was mini-double step thingy. We tried her potty step but it still didn’t get her high enough (who designed this house!)
She’s very happy. This will go with her new habit of telling me to go away while she’s on the toilet! Little miss independent is really growing up *sob*
