It wasn’t the best of weekends to be honest.
A very good friend died at the start of the week.
The hubby has been really ill and understandably grumpy so I was running around after him and getting nowhere.
And work …well I can’t talk much about that here but suffice to say I have this amazing future ahead of me but it’s out of reach. It’s like I’m running towards it but on a treadmill. It doesn’t matter whether I sprint or jog, I get no closer. All I know is that I can’t stop. I feel trapped and hopeless right now and that really affected me at the weekend.
That said I still managed to do plenty with the little one.
She had a birthday party in a soft play on Saturday so I left her to it and went for a run in the sunshine round the local park.
I walked the first bit because I ended up chatting to the hubby on the phone. It was nice to have a run.
I went to look at cars with the little one on Saturday. She chose this one
But I’m looking at downgrading mine and trying to find a cheaper 4x4
On Sunday I watched the marathon with excitement. It was great to watch it on the telly and remember parts of the course and it actually really made me feel great about running it last year. I wore my finisher t-shirt all day!
The little one was going a little stir crazy though so I took her to the park for a while
I even finished the weekend with another 5km run on Sunday evening.
I had calmed down enough by Sunday to enjoy myself a bit. Just in time to get wound up again for Monday morning!

The little one was absolutely full of a cold going into the weekend…so on Friday night I spent the night in bed with her and we were up early on Saturday.
Soon after the hubby was up I went back to sleep and corpsed out for a couple of hours.
So unlike our normal weekends, Saturday was spent in front of the TV watching films. I picked up Hotel Transylvania which has just come out and we watched that.
She then fell asleep on me.
For me this is the best feeling in the world ever – having the little one snuggled up asleep on me. It makes me feel secure, content and purposeful all at the same time.
In the early hours of Sunday morning the little one woke up and came through. Having heard her I got out of bed to try and meet her half way (it was 3am)
Staggering through the dark, I reached the doorway to discover the little one lying face down on the floor. I found her with my foot. This is what she looked like in the morning. Bad mummy
Then on Sunday we went to McDonalds for brekkie as we usually do
Lizard came with us. There was an incident later where Lizard lost a couple of toes and there was lots of crying! But we managed to bandage him up. Apparently he’s still poorly today though.
Then we went to see Wreck it Ralph which I accidentally saw in 3D. This was a first for the little one and I
And I was a bit worried about getting motion sickness but actually was fine. I loved the film but didn’t think the 3D added much to it.
Then the hubby was teaching a guitar lesson again so the little one got to play with her friend. She loves Just Dance 4 on Xbox Kinect and wanted to show her friend – so I set them up. Her friend wasn’t that impressed!
Not a bad weekend all things considered.

This weekend was a little different. There were no new films out and I couldn’t face watching Rise of the Guardians for the squillionth time.
The first thing I had to do was empty this trailer of wood that the gardener had left after chopping down my tree. I took a picture some way in
The little one helped in her own way by playing in a puddle of water until her hands froze!
Anyway – I did it.
Then we went to town.
Then we went to buy Tangled on DVD because we bought a set of characters from the Disney store after she saw it at Xmas.
They didn’t have it at Tesco’s so we walked over to ToysRus and luckily found a copy there. Then we went to Pizza hut for dinner
The characters joined us. Another lovely GF pizza though
Then today the little one ran through at 8am (woo hoo!) yelling “Mum, mum it snowed come and look”
Which I did. And it had. And it continued to all day
Today the hubby gave the first guitar lesson to the older sister of one of the little one’s friends. Her friend came over too and when the lesson was over I suggested she stay around for a play date.
We had lots of fun
Play-Doh making
Drinking hot chocolate
Dressing up.
And of course playing in the snow

Time for this weekend’s activities. Yesterday was a pretty busy day
We went to the cinema to see the new Tinkerbell film – which the little one loved
We grabbed the hubby and went to a pub with a soft play attached for our lunch
We stopped at Sainsbury’s on the way back to buy the Dark Knight Rises DVD which meant a ride on Thomas
I put the tree up and added the lights. The little one did the rest
We made decorations out of salt dough
And an angel for the top of the tree
I made chocolate orange fudge as a Xmas present for her teacher. Hoping it sets!

Ok are you ready? We’ve done a lot
We had a family trip to the dentist on Thursday. The little one and I got the all clear.
We had a trip to the restaurant across the road for dinner as a treat
We went to the cinema to see Rise of the Guardians a second time. Still good
The we went to see Father Christmas in Camperdown Park
I thought the queue didn’t look too long
I was wrong. It took well over an hour to get to this point. Then just as we were close to the front the little one said she needed a wee! Luckily a nice lady held our place and we legged it to the toilet and back. Well sort of because her toes were so cold from queuing we couldn’t run!
I didn’t realise that Santa was from Liverpool!
She had an angel painted on her face after
She kept checking it was still there
As she had the cream from her hot chocolate between 2 crisps
We grabbed dinner for her from McDonalds because we missed lunch
Her drawing is coming on so well. This is Mr Spiky Head and she’s doing an impression of him
We made Xmas cards for school. I hate giving Xmas cards but we don’t want her to stand out as different so we used it as a chance to do some crafting
I had a Secret Santa to get so we popped to town and she had a go on Brum with SuperGirl and then we went to Starbucks. She insisted I took a photo of her pulling funny faces!

The luxury of a full weekend at home after being away last Saturday
We went to the cinema to see Rise of the Guardians. We both enjoyed it and I found I couldn’t eat most of my popcorn – yeah!
We made Gluten Free mince pies. They are yummy
I read this book to the little one. I can highly recommend it. It deals with the difficult subject of child abuse and secrets in a child friendly way. Hard to read but worthwhile
Look what I got from Lakeland limited!! So excited. I’m thinking chocolate orange house?
Our McDonalds is being refurbished so went to a different one for breakfast. It was a beautiful morning
And a beautiful day
You can’t catch me mummy!
On guard!
Then we went to town and she was thrilled to spot the ride
And we finished off with a Starbucks

A full and active weekend this weekend as I had the whole weekend with the little one apart from a spot on Saturday when I was seeing a client.
So here goes
We made a cake on Friday evening
On a frosty morning we set off to the park
Where we played at being the big bad wolf
We watched some TV
Went on some rides
And went to Pizza Hut for gluten free pizza and a strawberry shake.
Then we went to HobbyCraft
And we got some plasticine to make aliens with
We went to McDonalds for brekkie and she drew a swan duck
And we made finger puppets and a finger puppet theatre
And now we’re both knackered!

After being away for 4 days over last weekend, I had a lot to make up for this weekend.
Yesterday we went to the cinema (Hotel Transylvania for the second time and still just as good), the toy shop to get her a pram for her baba and out for a little while on her trike
Today we went to McDonalds for brekkie as usual
Then we went to Tesco’s and then for a swim. After that we went to the park to kick a ball around
And Starbucks so I could get my supply of the Christmas blend coffee beans in
I think I made up for my absence.
